Birds being blown backwards

April 16, 2007

I’m working at home today, and I’m watching birds being blown backwards by the great winds being caused by a large nor’easter storm that is still going through here, two days after it began.  Wind speeds are getting as high as 20 or 30 mph at times, with even higher winds being predicted for later this afternoon.

Plus (and here’s the Proud Geek tie-in), I’m monitoring the Wunderground webpage for my neighborhood.  That page has numbers that changes seemingly every second, showing the wind speed going through my very neighborhood.  Many other neighborhoods also have people who volunteer to be a weather monitor on Wunderground.  Check Wunderground’s Google-assisted map of Personal Weather Stations to see if your area also has to-the-second weather information and wind speed for your area.
